BACKGROUND

Kenneth Spears, Senior Managing Counsel at Spears & Gary, LLC, concentrates his practice in complex toxic tort litigation, property law, and employment law. He graduated from the LSU School of Law in 1972, and has 44 years of experience handling complex litigation. He has appeared before trial courts, mediators, and both state and federal appellate courts on a wide variety of matters, both large and small, for a wide variety of clients. He has also counseled plant managers, law enforcement agencies, oil companies, and chemical companies. He has tried numerous first chair jury trials in both state and federal courts, and is certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Kenneth Spears has received an “AV Preeminent” attorney peer rating for the Highest Level of Professional Excellence by Martindale-Hubbell for 24 years and is a member of Litigation Counsel of America. He has also been named in the publication known as “Louisiana Super Lawyers” since its inaugural issue in 2007.

BACKGROUND

Claudia H. Gary is a partner at Spears & Gary, LLC, where she concentrates her practice in toxic tort defense, employment law and sports litigation. Prior to forming Spears & Gary, LLC, Gary was an associate at Swift, Spears & Harper and the Jones, Tete firm, both located in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Gary graduated from Tulane University in three years with a biology degree and attended law school at the Tulane University School of Law, obtaining her bar admission in 1993. 

Claudia Gary has spent her twenty years of legal experience representing some of the nations largest oil and gas companies in both premise and product related toxic tort work. She also has successfully handled a variety of both employment and sports law/contractual litigation.

BACKGROUND

Rhonda Smith is Of Counsel at Spears & Gary, LLC and concentrates her practice on toxic tort and asbestos defense litigation.  Prior to becoming Of Counsel with Spears & Gary, LLC, she worked for an insurance defense firm in Houston, Texas, a personal injury firm in Atlanta, Georgia, and was an Associate at Spears & Gary, LLC. During law school, she was a member of the Legal Association of Women and served as their president her third year.  She was also a member of the Civil Flory Mock Trial Association as both an attorney and as a judge.  Additionally, she obtained an internship with the Innocence Project of New Orleans and worked with an inmate serving a life sentence.  Following law school, she served as the judicial clerk for the Honorable Annette B. Lasalle, Judge of the Family Court of Baton Rouge in East Baton Rouge Parish.Rhonda is active in her community, formerly serving as a member of the High School Mock Trial Association and as an attorney-mentor for several high schools.  She was honored to be a member and president of the Louisiana National Guard Family Support Group for the 256th BSTB in Plaquemine, Louisiana during her husband’s two tours of duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
